This morning we arrived in Romania, that meant we had to leave our ship and continue our travels staying in hotels. We had so much fun on the ship, we’ll miss all the ship people who helped making our travels terrific.

We had a busy day, starting with a long bus ride to Bucharest (that’s the capital city of Romania). Even before we got to our hotel we stopped for a tour at a really huge government building, called the People’s Palace or the Palace of the Parliament. The tour lady that was with us told us it’s the second biggest administrative building in the world.
We were in awe with how enormous everything in this building is. The were massive marble staircases and columns, enormous fancy chandleries, stained glass ceilings and marble floors everywhere we looked.
We heard that it was ordered to be built by the dictator president, Ceaușescu, in 1984 and it took 13 years to build it, and was constructed with only local materials by local craftsmen. The dictator man never actually got to run his government from the building, he was arrested and killed before it was finished.

After we settled into our hotel we went for a walk through the town, looking at many sites. We stopped at a little church called Stavropoleos Church and peaked inside at the painted walls and around the courtyard at the gardens and vines. We also saw an old palace that’s used as an art museum and the Romanian Athenaeum, that a fancy way to say concert hall, that was opened in 1888 and has amazing music notes up in its dome.
After all our walking we were hungry so we stopped at a little patio restaurant. While we waited for our dinner we were entertained with some lively music by some street musicians. Such a great day.
