This morning we had to say ‘Arrivederci’ (that means goodbye) to all the new friends we met from Roma to Venezia, and a special big thank you to the lovely Vivien for showing us so many amazing places in Italy.

It’s a rainy day in Venezia as we head to the high-speed rail train station, in a taxi boat (remember all the roads are waterways). Our next stop is Milano (that’s Milan for all the westerners), on our way we watched the countryside and all the towns whizz by as the train reached speeds of up to 250 km. The train ride to Milano was only two and a quarter hours, even though it was 275 km, with 5 stops along the way.
Wow! The train station in Milano is huge and super busy. We looked left and we looked right and couldn’t figure out how to get out to the street. We had to ask directions a few times before we found our way to the local transit level (3 elevators down). Then, for fun, we travelled like the locals do and headed to our hotel.

Our first view of Milano!
We are in Piazza del Duomo and we found out that huge building in front of us is a cathedral. We’re going to visit that one with our tour group in the next few days (stay tuned).
It’s still raining out so we’re going to relax at our hotel and be ready for wandering around tomorrow.
